The Beaufort Scale is a descriptive system for indicating wind strength, from Force 1 to Force 12. Below is a table with the standard descriptions for each of these wind strengths along with the quantitative measurements in knots and a suggestions of the type of 'forces-of-nature' sports most suited to the wind strength.
