Persistence was required today to get what turned out to be a very good session.

Heading for Aberdovey the first challenge was to get there. Road closed due to accident 10 minutes before Newtown meant a half hour diversion. Water everywhere on the roads was lets say interesting. Dyfi bridge was closed and flooded well back along the flood plain.

So went down to see Al instead and we mulled over the conditions. The big swell and lulls in the wind didn't make the prospect of the sea front inviting so after a cuppa we went for the estuary. The water on Ynyslas side was dropping fast plus the current is going across the wind here and it was gusty so after sailing down the channel we walked over the spit to get into the main channel.

Sailed well powered up on the 5m, which was lucky 'cause we couldn't go back to change kit! The current pushing us into the wind made it perfect conditions for 5m sails. Nice little swell / chop to play on and turned into quite a gybe fest. After the first few runs / gybes I realised that probably for the first time that after launching I'd actually followed Al about without falling in, nice :-)

Loads of gybes mostly decent until I started getting tired. Had a bit of an explore then sailed downwind to Dyfi and back across to the Ynyslas side for the walk back. Windsurfing Done!

Of course getting home was also fun, by now the water had drained from the hills so a decent flood was to be crossed to get back to Mach. Just about made it following a 4x4 through. All good fun!
