Just a short circuit today with Rich using a descent previously untried by
us.
Parked by the fishing lodge, headed up Derwent Valley & climbed by Crook
Hill farm, past the two tits of Crook Hill & doubled back toward the 57 on
the section new to us. It turned out to be a good descent - technical but
fast.
Headed north on the 57, left it on the track to Hope Cross & then followed
the tame track alongside the ressie back to Thornhill & did the usual climb
from Aston to the roman road at Hope Brink, did a right at Hope Cross to
do the gnarly descent back to the river and thence back on Thornhill Way,
over the dam to the car.
Having done so little mtb'ing of late it brought home the difference
between the smooth and fast trail centre tracks of last week & the very
gnarly, technical, sometimes dangerous tracks of the Dark Peak.
Stopped off at the Devonshire for a jar on the way home!
