What a great night by the lake near Peyriac de Mer ans woke to fantastic sunrise :) So after breakfast Mag and I had a great walk in the nature reserve seeing a rainbow and getting close to 30 flamingos !!!! Just arrived at the supermarket when Rob rings to say he has broken three bones in his foot playing football :( and another from Pete saying he is on the beach and lonely !!!!
Again we park on the beach the Port la Nouvelle side but abit nearer the pier as the beach has dried out a little. There are several already out on the speedstrip the other side of the pier and as the wind is abit gusty this side I rig the 6.4 and take the Falcon 90 to check the conditions but after struggling abit to make the pier the wind is much better the other side so after a hairy 33 kt run return to the van to change to my 5.8 and speedboard !!! Sadly my £43 ebay bargin let me done as the top battern could not be tensioned as the webbing was broken !!! but tried it anyway.Again struggled the make the pier but once there had several hours of fun blasting toward La Franqui, the wind was very up and down and I might have been better sticking with the fully working 6.4 as usual had problems getting back upwind and was still only making 34 kts !!!
It was great to met up with Ben and Hans who were flying – they were going faster upwind than I was going down !!!! but they were ready to give advice and I up my peak to 37.3 a personal best but again disappointed not to make 40 kts again but am getting closer !!!! As usual I am several kts off the pace but I am still new to this speedsailing and it’s fun trying !!!
Mag made the walk down to take some pics and sadly I made one run too many and had to walk back miles as the wind dropped :( it did pick up again allowing me to sail round the pier but walked back to the van not wanting to end up out to sea being knackered !!!
So could be more wind tomorrow and we will park on the right beach this time but shame I have’nt got a fully working 5.8 !!!
Parked up with loads of windsurfer campervans at a free spot Etang de Leucate had tea while watching the sunset !!!!
