Our last night in our nice apartment was spoiled a little by drunken noisy louts at the Irish bar :( but popped the ear plugs in and slept fine :) up early, shower, breakfast and clean. The spotless apartment is checked by a nice Aussie girl at ten, we have a group photo in the car park and wave the Coles off for their long drive back to the tunnel :( shame they had to go as the skies blue and there has been fresh snow !!! Mag and I drive up to Sixt, buy a day’s lift pass – 37 Euros – bargain :) park up by the two man lift – Vagnys – struggle into cold ski boots and head up. The scenery is absolutely amazing as every tree as far as the eye can see has a heavy coating of snow – stunning!!! and the snow is perfect :) We go right to the top and Mag enjoys the steep well pisted reds while I head down the cathedrale black in deep power :) I continue right down to the bottom, off piste all the way !!! in and out of the trees, through people’s chalet gardens, over roads to the bottom !!! :) I met up with Mag and take her down the lower off piste, we get a bit lost and have to get across streams, then the road but make it to the bottom only a little muddy!!! We go back to the van for lunch – thank you The Coles for donating the remaining contents of the fridge :) It was then back to the top, once again Mag played mainly on the top reds from the pralet lift while I shuffled up a few hundred meters and headed off piste the other side of the gorge through the snow covered pines in a foot of fine powder – perfect :) I continued off piste all the way to the bottom, taking many pics en route and survived to tell the tail :) – the best run I have ever done!!!! I then tried to find Mag – I just missed her at the top, so had to ski right to the bottom but still no luck. On the vagnts lift I dropped my ski pole while taking pics of my tracks -sad I know!!! continued to the top but had to get to the bottom quick as the lifts were closing shortly and skiing with one pole is quite awkward :( I spotted my pole and managed to ski down to it just as Mag passed over head on the lift – she was nearly the last up !!! I had to ski down the off piste and I met up with her for a couple of runs down the blue by the still open button lift. Back to the van, pack the gear away and head to Samoens for diesel and on to Morillon to park up for the night in the ski lift car park just up from three other campervans – kettle on, diesel heater on then tea and baguettes :) I doze off while Mag reads and I then walk up to Morillon Church with the camera while Mag does her rag rug – fingers crossed it’s not too cold here tonight!!! - top day one of our best days skiing ever even if Mag did wipe out (virtually unheard of!) sliding down the piste (luckily laughing!) –that will teach her for going so fast :)
