Thursday 2nd May - walk **** – Landguard Nature Reserve including a picnic by the Orwell – sunny and warm, turning hazy.

Wow what a lovely day, maybe the warmest of the year here in Felixsrtowe it certainly felt like it, starting sunny but turning hazy in the afternoon. Exercises in the garden while Mag potters in the garden, then with picnic packed we drive the short distance for a walk at the lovely Landguard nature Reserve and it was definitely shorts and t-shirts today! We set off past the caravan park with a beautiful back of big daises before walking through the blackberry bushes where I get a brief glimpse of a muntjac I think but it was quick. We were surprised to see a lot of rabbits including young out grazing despite being the middle of the day. Much to Mags annoyance we turned right to the dock view point but were pleased we did as a large crowd had gathered to watch the MSC Loreto, the worlds largest container ship just about to leave! To be honest it looked like every other container ship to me as it slowly eased away from its berth with the aid of 3 tugs, the fact the breeze was light and the Orwell very flat made it easy today! We ambled along the beach as the Loreto followed, passing us at our lunch spot on the old pier, it made for some OK pis I suppose:) We enjoyed a very relaxing picnic with the gulls, a couple of fishing boats and the a ferry heading in. Well rested we continue across the reserve with some lovely tiny wild flowers and up over the small hills to the van and home after a quick stop at Lidl again. Tomorrow is not looking great with rain forecast, breezy too but our van is I the garage again as the engine is missing with no power??? So no windsurfing but we are having the lovely Maeva:)
