18th September 2018
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Manor end
Wind Direction: WSW
Wind Stength: 26-28kts
Surf / Sea State: bumpy waves
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: cloudy warm
Max Speed: 26.30 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 15.4 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Went to Felixstowe Dip venue first to see Andy Neil Swainey all heading to Manor end because the WSW created a huge wind band at the dip. There were sailors out but hardly moving.
Followed to the Manor end to be greeted with a stiff strong wind gusting 26kts. It was bloody windy and the sea didn't look easy. As it was low tide incoming I venture out with slalom kit as I have no wave kit so everything was way too big.
Rigged 5.5 NP Fusion HD to the Goya Bolt 115 with a 42cm fin. The sail and the board is nice but the early runs were difficult going out, as I was hitting wave after wave full on. Andy Neil and Swainey were going well on wavy kit. Strawbs and Paul turned up and were loving. Lucky for me the sea eased a bit so started powering up by sheeting in again. Had nice runs off wave faces and toyed with the others with some long burn ups. Never felt threatened but to be honest, in these conditions any wave board would go well.
Fell in too many gybes on the outside mistiming waves and clumsy foot work.
I will have to get a 38cm fin to calm the board down if I don't get a smaller board. It was first time out on the 115L and first time, used a 5.5 this year. This old school sail did very well although I had to pull the guts out of it with downhaul. Must have reduced it to 5m with at least an inch too much downhaul.
Weather was great but had too long a dinner break. Andy stayed out and enjoyed some nice seas. Neil said let’s do a final sail around 3.30 and the sea was great going out, but the damn wind dropped badly and looked to have swung off and I wallowed back a groin down, so all packed up. Great day though.
Didn't try for speeds as it was too rough
