That’s now 6 sessions in 7 days and I am officially knackered but
hopefully a couple of days off until Friday when there is a good SE breeze
and 30 degrees forecast! With the wind form the west Andy and I had
originally planned on a foiling session from The Manor but the wind had a
touch of north in it and was quite strong so we decided to play safe,
arranging to meet up at Levington Marina at 3.30 to catch the tide. So
after exercises and lunch at home I was at a loose end so decided to head
over to the marina at 1.15 dropping Mag off enroute at Trimley so she could
have a walk home where she stopped off at Morisons and got loads of bargain
plants/bulbs:) This was my first trip over to the marina since having to
now pay and it was glad to be back on the Orwell despite the wind being
particularly gusty 10 to nearly 30 knots! I was too early to foil really as
the tide was still fairly low but there was plenty of water to sail out of
the marina entrance on a fin. So, I rigged 7m for my 133 lt Zantos with the
plan of having an hour or so on the fin before changing to the foil when
Andy arrived. I had some nice runs across the river and got some top gybing
in the flat water each side but the wind dropped over the far side so no
long runs down to the docks today:( The wind was very up and down, hanging
on one minute, slogging the next but it was good to be out on the Orwell,
spotting a seal as I left the marina and good to be out with the many
yachts. After a couple of 26 knot runs the wind eased so I headed back. I
didn’t think Andy was coming so started to pack up only for him to
arrive. I told him it was not a great day to foil with the wind all over
the place so we had a lovely chat before deciding to save ourselves for
Friday! As a member of the marina we are now allowed to use the new
yachtie’s toilet/shower block so I stopped for a shower before heading
home and what a 5-star shower it was as good as any top hotel, will have to
take some shampoo next time! Then on the way home saw my first combine of
the year in a wheat field, so stopped to take some pics for the Grandson
and then had a hare run in front of the van, so a nice afternoon in the
end:)
