After a run of cold days, we have a few days of much milder weather with
the possibility of a little breeze the only downside being not a great tide
at my go to winter venue Levington. It was a lovely start with a sunny
morning and with the breeze increasing slightly I headed over to the marina
arriving at 10.15 and was surprised just how low the river was considering
it was not low water until around midday, did not look like much wind
either:( So relaxed in the sun enjoying the view with my camera until
Robert turned up. We were in no hurry to go out as looked very light so
waited until the tide turned and then decided to give it a go as we were
there so set up our foil boards then I rigged 7.8 while lighter Robert went
for his 7.5 and to be honest apart from a few gusts it was nowhere near big
enough but Robert had some nice runs. With the tide at its lowest point,
you can easily launch by the wall to the marina entrance, sadly we both got
some mud on our booms which was a pain! With the breeze WSW you could sail
straight out of the marina channel to the deep water and then we spent an
hour and a half searching for a gust, sadly the sun had now gone, the only
thing to get cold was my feet! With the wind all but gone it was time to
call it a day and head in, pack up shower and home, not great but at least
we got out, the highlight being the large number of geese down by Trimley
Marshes, perhaps it might be worth another look tomorrow but not looking
great!
