Sunday 24th September – Windsurf ** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny and mild.

F2 282 Ride with Naish Nalu 4.7m and 36 fin.

As I had my flu and covid jabs yesterday my arms were feeling a little stiff and I was hoping it was not going to be too windy but I was unlucky as it must have been gusting to 25 knots at Felixstowe:( As we were having the Granddaughter in the afternoon I headed down to my local beach, The Dip at Felixstowe after doing my exercises in the warm sunshine. The tide was dropping nicly when I arrived around 11 with Neil going for 4.7, this is when I made my mistake, I should have gone over to Levington for some flatwater foiling as I am really not a fan of small sail open sea sailing especially when the sea was as big as it was today, really messy close to the beach too with some even big waves out to sea:( I rigged 4.7 and used my which proved OK as there was some lulls which the big board helped with. You just had to sail slow and ride the waves, definitely not my style, then my left foot got in the footstarp while gybing and I twisted my knee which sadly is still playing me up:( I had a few runs, even managed a few gybes before heading ashore for a snack and to take a few pics. Then I had a couple more runs before calling it a day and heading haome to spend the afternoon with the lovely Maeva, that’s the last time I sail Felixstowe in similar conditions I hope!
PS – some sad news as a kitesurfer died today while out on the water just down the coast at Frinton:(
