Sunday 14th April - walk **** – Around Felixstowe including a picnic at The Grove – sunny periods and mild.

After a hectic week of windsurf foiling on the sea at The Manor in Felixstowe it was nice to have a light wind day but still sunny and mild. A bit of a lay-in, then exercises in the back garden while Mag sorts out some shelves for her tomato plants then gives the window sill a second coat of paint, there is just no stopping her! Then I pack a picnic and we drive the short distance to the woods at The Grove to check out the wild garlic which is now in full bloom along with the bluebells and cowslips:) We take our usual route through Abbey Grove to our bench on the small green for a lovely picnic surrounded by yellow cowslips, Mag switches on the brilliant Merlin bird song app and we hear 15 birds, we love this app and thoroughly recommend it:) Well rested we continue through the lovely woods coming out of the trees we decide to carry on to Gulpher Road turning left we then take the footpath across the open fields with great views down to Ramsholt. We then head back towards Felixstowe just short of Marsh Lane, across more fields to the playing fields at The Grove, then through the trees and back to the van pretty knackered after walking nearly 3.50 miles. Home for a well deserved cuppa and cake! Tomorrow is looking pretty rough, cooler, strong winds with some rain so will probably give windsurfing a miss!
