Windsurfing: Golf Course Car park, Ynyslas Wind Direction: NNW Wind Stength: 25-40 knots Surf / Sea State: 2-3 foot rough surf Air Temperature: 11ºC Sea Temperature: 12ºC Weather: Sunny spells Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got to the beach and found Chris out and working his 13m and Col just about
to go home. The anenometer was only reading a very blustery 11-18 knots on
top of the pebbles, but it looked a bit windier out to sea. I was just
about to rig my 5.7m when a 28 knot gust came through so I decided to go
with the 5m and my big board instead. I rigged up and as I walked over the
pebbles decided then in actaul fact I'd get away with my little board, so
went and got that instead.
Once on the water I was well-powered up with the 5m and having a good time.
the wind kept on increasing though so I soon had to put on some more
outhaul and then after an hour or so of sailing completely maxed out I cam
back in and chagned down to a very flatly rigged 4.5m. Even with that I was
maxed out and actually overpowered, and at times when the really big gusts
came through the whole rig just got wrenched out of my hands a few times.
All good fun though with some massive jumps, a couple fo half-hearted
back-loop attempts, which ended in a big back-slap and me slightly
winded.
Meanwhile, further down the beach, the increasing wind had got the better
of Chrs and he ended up losing his board and having to drag back into the
beach. As yet his board is still missing in action.
