Saturday 13th October – windsurf * The Dip - Felixstowe – sunny periods.

F2 282 Ride with Tushingham Lightning 7 m and 38 fin.

For the fourth day in a row the weatherman lets down the windsurfers of Felixstowe :( With 20 kts from the South forecast the carpark at The Dip was full at 8.30 with sailors coming from miles around to make the most of low water, the kiters were already packing up after another early morning session, we spotted a kite board floating just off our beach, it was retrieved and returned to the kitesurfers by Ed Swain. At this point things were looking promising with rolling waves and enough wind for us to rig 7m! By the time I was suited it looked a lot lighter and this was soon proved correct. I couldn’t clear the exposed shingle bar at the first attempt but made it at the second try and planed a couple of miles down into Bawdsey Bay but the wind was getting lighter and lighter all the time. I stopped on the shingle bar and it would have made a good picture but I didn’t have my waterproof camera:( The interesting part now began as I had to sail the last 800m in next to no wind but I made it in the end and got a clap from those watching from The Dip carpark:) Now everyone packed up and called it a day. I headed home with the idea of perhaps heading over to Bradfield on the Stour for the afternoon but Mag was out when I got home so checked the laptop and it had picked up a little, my next plan was to try Levington but looked at the webcam and Al Wix was out at The Manor. Then Mark Smalling messaged to say there was enough wind to sail so I had a sandwich before heading down there.
