22nd March 2020 Hiking - Walking: Levington Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered: Sunday 22nd March - walk ***** - Levington circuit – Sunny. What a frustrating weekend it’s been in very worrying times, when this virus first reared its ugly head you thought it had nothing to do with me but now with it rife in the UK and with people not taking it seriously, we are now very concerned. Felixstowe along with other seaside towns and natural beauty spots are heaving with people out enjoying the stunning sunshine but showing no idea of social distancing! I thought I would be OK to go out windsurfing at The Dip yesterday in nice conditions but too cold for an old timer like me in the open sea and was amazed by the numbers out on the prom. Then today with the lovely sunshine continuing I headed to the much quieter Levington Marina to hope to get out on the River Orwell, by the time I had arrived foilers David and Jamie had decided against going out, shame really as I think it would have been OK for an hour or two and have been out in just as cold earlier in the year! I should have manned up and gone out even if my back is really playing me up at the moment and am sitting here typing this with a hot water bottle on my back! It was too nice a day not to do anything and you can go stir crazy sitting at home I returned to Felixstowe to pick Mag up to return to the marina for a walk away from the crowds. We had a lovely walk along the River Orwell path as the tide dropped to reveal lots of mud. There were several people out making the most of the stunning scenery and sunshine but we all gave each other a wide berth! At the small lake we were lucky enough to spot a couple of Avocets, with an Egret and Kestrel overhead! We continued around Levington creek and back along the boardwalk through the reeds and back to the van and home for the video calls from both our boys for Mother’s Day. So, in these worrying times give people some space and stay fit and healthy and hope this terrible virus is beaten very soon! Photo Gallery Here |
