Hello & Borth for a beginner?
Jay586 - 30-9-2009 at 20:11

Hi. I launched Shem's kite for him last year and got hooked on the idea of kiting. Just had some lessons up here in Scotland but coming down to Wales next week and if the wind is ok, may visit Borth/Ynyslas for a bit of a float around and play with my newly-acquired kit.

Lived in Borth for a year so know it well but not kited before on my own.

Any hints/tips/warnings welcome!

Just have a chat with any of the guys kitesurfing on the beach, anyone there will give you sound advise on conditions etc...

Yep, its generally a fairly safe beach and as long as there are others out and about to help you you should get on fine.

Most people park in the Golf Course Car Park at the Ynyslas junction (although some of us just walk across from home!). People then tend to launch and kite to the north of the last groyne, so if you turn up there and get chatting to others you'll find plenty of people to help out.

See you on the beach sometime soon.

Al.

Hi guys. I did get to Borth but it was a wind-free sunny day and my kite hadn't arrived either.

Happy kiting over the winter and maybe I'll see you next year.
