As one squall came through the sea turned a sickly greeny yellow and flattened off with the gusts as the cold air fell from the cloud. By this time the sea was off the shingle bank so the shore dump was minimal though some swells were still firing up the odd wave.

Finally gave it best around 4.30 and hit the hot showers. Bliss. Just managed to derig and get the kit in the car before the next shower. I felt I\'d done well just to get in a couple of dry gybes and not get trashed kit-wise or personally. A tough day but rewarding. Any wave board day has to be worth a minimum 4 *s.

We had the same thing here, just before the mother of squalls came through the water suddenly took on a real threathening demeanor as if it was warning us of what was about to hit.. Looking at the weather station stats, as the squall hit the wind went from 18-20 knots up to 35 knots, the temp dropped from 17¬?C to 12¬?C in seconds and all hell broke loose as far as the rainfall is concerned with a max rainfall rate of 240mm/hr... Quite some squall!

Good to see people were out and having fun all around the country today though.
