POSSIBLE BODYBOARDING QUESTIONARE!

justal is thinking of making a new body boarding forces of nature questionare.
Because he is busy making his new house, the questionare will not be ready untill this winter.
Could anyone who knows about body boarding, start posting suggestions for questions (for the questionare), so we can put them in and create one.

I'll start off with:-

Can you paddle 'out back'? (Beyond the breaking waves.)

If you need some help look at the type of questions in the surfing questionare.

Cheers in advance, Airborne.

Here you go.

Can you do:

dropknee(2 - landmark: many moves can be done both dropknee or prone, add one point to moves made in dropknee)
duck dive (1)
360 (one way/both directions) (3 - landmark)
rollo (4)
aerial (3)
floater (2)
cut back (3 for a real one, not just a few turns)

Would be interesting to see the skills out there.

Great ideas Mex Bandit! (Hey justal take a look at this!)

How about:
Can you do...
Floater (2)
Drop Knee (3)
Stand up (5)
Inverts (5)
D-Bah slide (4)
Back hand slash (3)
Stalled Inverts (5)
Air forward (5)
Air roll (5)
backhand snap (3)
cuttie (3)
fade (2)
roundhouse (4)
Can you get barrelled? (4)

But these are all pretty advanced stuff, try some begginer/starter questions such as:-
Can you hold your rail? (1)
Can you take off? (1)
Can you do a bottom turn? (2) etc.

Nice one, Airborne.

OK, OK.... I'll tell you what, seeing as all this bodyboarding nonsense means nothing to me (well, not much anyway).... Each time you suggest a questions / skill, give it a rating from 1-5, with 1 being the easiest/beginner type skills and 5 being the most advanced, ballsy moves.

That way when I get around to adding a body-boarding questionnaire I can score the questions accordingly. Also, if any of the moves are 'landmarks' in most peoples body-boarding careers (in the way that waterstarting, carve gybing and forward loops are in windsurfing) then let me know so I can make sure those skills are added.

I'm not promising anything yet though. I need to do the kiting questionnaire over the winter, so will do the body-boarding one at the same time.

Al.

I understand justal that this isn't yet certain, but at least it's something to do whilst we wait. Take as long as you want...no rush and no pressure.

Good idea for the numbering system. I'll do that now.

Anyone else please add some more questions. Remember 1 is for starter/begginer moves and it goes up to 5 for the more skill you need to pull off the trick.

Thanks once again Al.

Angry_Apple - 31-8-2003 at 18:48

Oh man! I only know a few things and after airborne and mexican bandit whipped out a foot-long list I blushed terribly! Im not really into bodyboarding...
but you guys certainly know your stuff, I think you deserve a questionnaire just for body boarding, heck you deserve a website!
i'll just shut up now...

Airborne - 1-9-2003 at 09:30

Anyone heard of it? It has sponging style, tricks, techniqes, news and...er...other stuff!

Take a look at it (down below).
Keep posting tricks and questions. Airborne.

Anyone else know any good questions for the new bodyboarding questionare?

Airborne.

SinistaPenguin - 10-9-2003 at 13:36

No-one's mentioned 'belly spins' or doesn't anyone do these anymore.

I have no idea how hard they are to do, but I always thought they looked quite cool, maybe I'm just a bit old-school!

Airborne - 10-9-2003 at 17:00

That's a great idea SinisterPenguin.

I reckon that's about skill level 3.

Any more questions/tricks to post anyone?

Airborne.

mexican bandit - 10-9-2003 at 17:19

Question:

Are belly spins the same thing as a 360?

If not, I think I'm losing my touch with the bodyboarding world.

Mex. Bandit

SinistaPenguin - 11-9-2003 at 10:38

They probably are - I was never in touch with the bodyboarding world really!

justal - 12-9-2003 at 05:45

Hi Zelwaters... Good to have you posting here.

Those questions are fine for the forums, and I'm sure Airborne, Mex Bandit, NeilC and the other body-boarders will answer them here for you, but its not the sort of thing for the skills questionnaire.... Take a look at the existing questionnaire for windsurfing and surfing to see what its all about:

The questionnaire is here

The house is almost finished thanks.. The builders should finish at the end of next week, then we have a couple of weeks of sorting things out (painting, decorating, laying floor coverings etc) and then we should be fully installed.... Can't wait.

...and then all of the FON get together will have give you a house warming party, and you'll have to call the builders again

Just kidding Al. All the best with the new place.

Airborne - 16-9-2003 at 16:44

Yeah! Keep up the hard work Al.

Keep posting questions...oh by the way belly slides are 360's, 180's etc. on the face of the wave.

Airborne.

zelwaters - 16-9-2003 at 23:29

hey sorry il have a go at some betta questions gotta sleep now cant get away from this site al lol x

Airborne - 25-10-2003 at 09:33

Does anyone else have any more questions for this body boarding questionare? Because justal has nearly finished his house and we could get some more questions to add before he makes the questionare.

Airborne.

justal - 25-10-2003 at 11:28

LOL.... I knew that would be coming soon!!.

The house is indeed nearly finished, but don't worry I haven't forgotten about the things I have to do to the site.

I'm in the process of building a website (online shopping site) for a local surf / skate / snow shop, so thats my latest excuse, I have to get that finished (as I'm getting paid for it... not enough before you ask) before I can do anything on this site. (For those of you who understand these things I'm up to my ears in php scripts and mysql errors at the mo!!!.... Grrrr..)

I might have to give myself a weeks 'holiday' nearer to Xmas so that I can dedicate some time to updating things here. I will need some more Body Boarding questions though as Airborne has pointed out, and I'll need some help with questions for the kiting section too.

Al.

Airborne - 28-10-2003 at 12:15

WOW! You have got a lot on. I'll certanly go onton that new website your making...sounds great, everything i like doing. You'll have to give me the web address when it's ready.

Anyway, excuses, excuses, tut tut.
Not really, only joking!
Take as long as you want!
I've now got to go find some more tricks/moves for body boarding.

Oh, and you deserve that week off Al.
From Airborne.
