Hi Andy...
The usual place to sail from is at the northern end of the beach at Borth, launching from the Golf Course Car Park, (or walking across to the beach from my house!).

What sort of standard are you?

The other option is the estuary at Ynyslas and we generally sail there if it is NE-E.

I'm hoping to get out tomorrow if you are interested, and Thursday is looking pretty promising too.

Al.

Id probably say im late intermediate standard, comfortable planing, waterstarts pretty much dialled but still a bit sketchy with gybes and occasional jumps and bad attempts at vulcans and other stuff.

Hi Andy B

I learnt to Windsurf whilst at uni in Aberystwyth a few years back. I used to store all my kit down at the boathouse with all the Uni's kit. The Windsurfing club existed when I was there but there were very few members of the club who actually windsurfed.

There was myself who I wouldn't even call a windsurfer at the time as I only went out about 5 times each year along with a few others!
All the members were more interested in the social events and we regulary had 30 people coming to our socials on Wednesdays so looks like the clubs being killed of with all that socialising and no playing in the sea.

Like Al said, your best bet is to head to Borth as Twyl Bach beach near the boat house has a nasty shore break that has the potential to break your kit. (It's lovely launching there in light winds at the end of May when exams are over sailing among the dolphins, beach yourself on South beach and get an ice cream)

Bit of a pain in the ass packing all your kit in your car and driving upto Borth but it's the best place and theres usually Kitesurfers and the odd windsurfer including Al.

If you need to know any more info about the (former) windsurfing club there - give me a shout and PM me.

Enjoy
Jonny

Jonny... The windsurfing club is no more and the boathouse has been refurbished (or is in the process of being done) and all the old windsurfing kit was thrown in a skip... It wasn't worth keeping.

Andy.. Do you have a car? Are you able to transport your kit to Borth? If so, then this is the place to be. I shall be going out later today (if the wind holds up above 25 knots) for sail if you want to join me. If you are attempting vulcans then you must be doing OK, I certainly haven't tried one!

I've sent you a u2u with my phone number in it so feel free to give me a call.

Al.

I dont have a car but one of my mates said he might give me a lift over to borth tomorow(Thursday) if the winds good so if anyone else is out then i might see you.
Iv also had an email from Sean about national windsurfing week and trying to push that at Aber which sounds like a good idea.

Hi Andy.... I can get out tomorrow, but have a meeting at 9am and have to collect my son from Aber at 3pm, so I'll probably get out at around 11am for a couple of hours (wind permitting) if you can make it then.....

I could always give you a lift back to Aber in the afternoon if your mate doesn't want to hang around.

I had an e-mail from Sean today as well.... I'm supposed to be trying to organise something in this neck of the woods for National Windsurfing Week, but as there are only a few of us around I wasn't sure what to do?

OK.... Looking at the forecast it looks as though the wind will drop off in the afternoon, so if I've fished with my meeting earlier then I shall go out earlier, but let me know when you're going to be there and I'll pop over and say hello... (And give you a lift back to Aber if you need one!)

Looking good out there at the mo Andy, but it is forecast to drop off pretty quickly once the rain passes... Fingers crossed it will hold up long enough for a session.

If I'm not on the beach when you get there, give me a ring and I'll come over to say hello.

Al.
