Secondhand Surfboard Buying Guide - How to Buy Secondhand Surfboards

If you are on a tight budget or you are still “testing the waters” of Surfing, then you should try buying a secondhand board first. But make sure to check the following before buying a used board.

* Make sure to carefully check for dings and cracks. Remember not to buy a heavily cracked/dinged board to avoid problems later on. Any secondhand board with few dings on it is acceptable and should not be a problem.

* Inspect the fin area to avoid buying a Surfboard with a cracked fin. If the board shows signs of cracking then don’t buy it. Cases like these should be avoided.

* If the board you are going to purchase had undergone repairs then it is advisable to check it all over. Make sure that repair was done correctly and that no little amount of water can get into the foam to avoid discoloration.

* Dirty Surfing Boards like those with plenty of wax can lead to a lot of problems later on. Make sure to clean a dirty board first before purchasing so you can be sure that you will be buying a quality board.

* Compare prices of the old and brand new board. If there is only a little amount of money needed to avail a new one then it would be better to spend extra money to a new board with good quality and that you know would be worth it.

Just like when buying a brand new Surfboard, take time in choosing a secondhand board. Check the boards thoroughly and eventually, you will find the type of board that’s worth your money and effort.

Can anybody vouch for this tips? I just got it over the net.

thanks
