New Sail

I,ve just trashed my tushingham Heckler 6.5 (stuck my head through it!!) "that's a bummer man".

The sail is only been used for a season and a half and this is the second time I have ripped it, so as I will punish the replacement sail should I go cheap (gun) or bomb proof (Ezzy)

What do you think?

I'd go for the cheap Gun option... They are built just as well as any other. In fact, I managed to destroy my so called bombproof 4.5m North Voodoo, but my 4.5m Gun Wave MC has taken so much more punishment than the Voodoo.

Besides, you could get two Gun sails for the price of the Ezzy.

I use a 4.5m, 5.0m and 5.7m Gun Wave MC, and a 6.3m Gun Groove, and have been happy with all of them in all respects. I rig them on Gun masts and booms as well. The masts are fine and have a 2 yr warranty anyway. I'm not so sure about their booms though as I've managed to snap two of them now!! Both were replaced under the warranty with no questions asked though, so it wasn't too much of a catastrophe.

Thanks Al

Ive just checked out the Hun site--oops typo, Gun site and the 2003 sails are on offer, I dont think there is any point in giving it any further thought, two gun sails for the price of one NP!

Its got to be Gun.

I should say that I do get a bit of discount from Gun, so do feel like promoting them sometimes!!!... However, if I didn't like the kit, or thought it was crap then I wouldn't recommend it to others, or use it myself for that matter, and I'd tell you it was crap too... discount or no discount, I say it as it is.

Mention me when you order it though, so that they know the discount they give me is worthwhile!!

Which ones are you gonna go for??

Al.

I went for the Wave MC, as its supposed to be better for onshore conditions as it has a little more power than the Impact wave, but in my opinion once you get down to 4.5m weather these little differences don't really have that much effect in the real world.

If I get a 4m sail it would be the Impact Wave.

Al

Spoke to tushingham today and they have kindly offered some dicount which brings the storm down nearer to a gun price so I have calmed down and decided to stick with what I know.

The storm is a solid sail and I hope it will take the punishment That me and weston dish out, thanks for your advice.

Cool... New toys are new toys whatever the make!!

Theres very little difference (if any) between the build quality of the big names anyway.... They all break if you hit 'em hard enough!!!

Are you still getting 2?... 4.5m and 6.5m?

Griptool - had you considered some of the end of season clearance offers...unused sails with big discounts? Most of the big shops do them? I've just picked up an 02 Pryde Spirit from RiksWindursfing for £215. That's £115 saving on the new price. As far as I understand sail technology moves v.slowly so I'm not bothered about having last years model.

Boarseeker.com seems to show most of the sails on offer but not all. Plenty of bargians out there!

Cheers

Nick
