Bar Spinning Thing?

Hi everyone. I need some help. I want to get hold of one of those connections that allow you to spin your bar to untangle your lines without having to remove the bar from the harness but I dont know what they are called?? Anyone know. Cheers.

Hello der bananaman, what your after is a " whitchard", available from most Chandlers or sailing stores. Dont buy the pistol type, these are cheaper, however do not work under high pressure, ( which is exactly when you need them to work)!! Theyre not cheap, any thing up to £30 quid, they are good though. Some harnesses come with them fitted now. Ive customised my own though. All the best

Shem.

How does a 'wichard' work then - i'm intrigued. Is that what's also known as a shackle?

Yip Its a shackle, but a " non pistol" type, so that it doesnt jam under pressure. It also spins so that your leash doesnt twist. Quite a few of the ynys las riders have them, tied or welded onto the top of theyre spreader bar. The other benefit is that stops your chicken loop falling out all the time.

Al,

Yes there is one there if thats what it is. Couldn't imagine paying £30 for one of those little metal things. I'll give it a clean then set it up on my new bar.

Yep, thats the one.... I was pretty surprised when someone said £30!!! Even good quality climbing karibiners don't cost that much.
