Ireland to Wales crossing

The first kite-surf crossing from Irlenad to Wales has been completed by Kirsty Jones...

Kirsty made the crossing from rosslare in Ireland finishing just under 5hrs later at Martins Haven, Pembrokeshire.

The original plan was to finsish at Broad Haven which is a large sandy beach to the north of Martins Haven.?ù?ùHowever, the wind had dropped significantly and she was struggling to keep her 9.1 F-one kite in the air so the decision was made to head for the nearest land.?ù?ùMartins Haven is a tiny cove surrounded by high cliffs, so therefore it is virtually impossible to kite into.?ù?ùAs she got within 200 yards of the cove, the kite droped from the sky and the rescue boat recovered it.

The crossing was made in aid of childrens charities in Wales.

5 hours is pretty good going too!

Al.
