Information
Llandudno beach overlook the hills od Snowdonia and the Island of Anglesey. The beach is backed by a promenade along its entire length of almost 1km. The promenade is backed on the landward side by an extensive grassed area. Seating is available along the promenade and a model boating lake is situated at its northern end adjacent to a mini golf and deckchair facility. An extensive children's play area is located in the centre of the promenade. Ample car parking is available both on street and pay/display facilities with designated disabled places at regular intervals.

There are dog restrictions in place, and areas of the beach designated for dog walking. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the summer months.

The curved bay of Llandudno is well sheltered from big waves and not very deep. It is overlooked by the limestone headland of the Great Orme, which is a popular launch site for paragliders. Facing SW, the sandy beach receives consistent cross or onshore winds. It is an ideal beach for windsurfing and kitesurfing and is especially suited to beginners of both sports. You can launch 3 hours either side of high tide. Parking is available nearby and all the usual seaside facilities can be found in Llandudno itself.
Llandudno also has a northerly facing beach on the other side of the Great Orme. I don't know much about this myself, but presumably it is fine for windsufing and kitesurfing with fairly flat water. SW winds would be cross-offsore and gusty, but NW through to Easterly should be good.

This is IMHO a highly under-rated location. The swell / chop away from the sheltered beach area is great fun to sail in and presents a decent challenge as it can be fairly big and confused. Lots of airtime guaranteed. A beautiful backdrop when sailing away from the beach, lots of grassy rigging space and the folk are very friendly. Give it a go one day when the wind is westerly or north-westerly, or even when south-westerly as an alternative to crowded Rhosneigr!
