The spacious resort of Exmouth boasts fine gardens and parks, some dating from the town's Victorian heyday. A sea wall and Queens Drive back Exmouth's long sandy beach, which has a wide promenade lined with shops, restaurants and pubs.
Toilets are available, including facilities for disabled people. Cafés, restaurants, kiosks and pubs can all be found on the front and in the town. A slipway provides access for boats.
Dogs are allowed on the beach all year around in restricted areas.
In addition to Exmouth's suitabiity for watersports, Exmouth is a gateway for walking the Dorset and East Devon World Heritage Coast site, along the South West Coast Path to Sandy Bay/Budleigh. Bird watchers can walk to the estuary bird hide, situated on the East Devon Way (a long distance footpath) or take avocet cruises.
Exmouth has two quite different locations for windsurfing and kitesurfing, The Seafront is described here, see the 'Exmouth Duckond' listing for the estuary.:
THE SEAFRONTExmouth seafront provides a whole range of conditions from flat water blasting to waves depending on the wind direction and tide state. The ebb tide flows very quickly especially during the last few hours on spring tides when it all flows in the channel next to the beach when the sandbars are dry. This is something to be careful of, but can turn a moderate southerly into full on planing conditions with the wind against tide effect. There are extensive sandbars just offshore which, as the tide goes down, mean that you get flat water on the inside and waves on the outside. The waves are always best at mid to low tides - once the sandbar is covered they start to get a bit messy. E winds are cross off and bring a swell which provides down-the-line waves. SE through to SSW also bring good wave conditions, whereas the swell will start to flatten off when it goes round to the SW or W, but if you catch it, that gives down-the-line waves too. A SSW is the optimum to get dead flat speed conditions behind the sandbar at low tide. NW and NNW gives flat water blasting on the incoming tide, although it is also possible to go when the tide is still going out if you quickly cross the channel and sail the other side of the sand bar.

nice place
recently I visited Exmouth after noting comments on here about both the
seafront & duckpond being very good. Also being relatively new to
kitesurfing I thought that at least one or the other location would be
suitable for me.Since I have been kiting I have been very impressed by the
help & support that I have been given by fellow kitesurfers- so imagine
my disgust after traveling a long way to Exmouth to find that the kiters
are nothing short of ignorant & unhelpful!!May I suggest that a few of
these individuals actually read the Code Of Conduct which I read before I
went out on the beach for the first time, because it became clear to me
whilst one of them was trying to untangle his lines with my kite, that he
certainly hadn't got a clue!Oh and how's your head mate? My kite hit rather
hard didn't it.On the whole I was gutted as I was looking forward to
meeting some new faces and having a natter. Many thanks to the kiters in
Aberdovey, who broke me in gently and always have time for new faces.
