Windsurfing: Queen Mary Reservoir Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 7-16 Surf / Sea State: Flattish Air Temperature: Warm Sea Temperature: Mild Weather: Sunny with clouds Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got to Queen Mary at about 2.45pm. Out on the water about 3.30pm. Had to
pay £12 to play. Was wind but not a lot when I got there probably 11
knots average so I rigged up the Noa 8m. Sailed with this for about an
hour and it was fine, I remembered to set the harness lines up correctly
this time which was a problem last time I used the 8m when I forgot to
adjust them on the boom so they were still set at 6m settings (stoopid
prick!!). Anyway, like I say, I remembered this time and I had a good sail
with the 8m which I used for about an hour and a half but then got really
tired of uphauling the bloody thing (yes I wish I could waterstart but in
these conditions!!!). I was getting so tired my arms were hurting so I
came in for a break. I saw some other guys changing down and thought yeah
I'll change down to the 6m Storm. Now I much prefer the storm, its
smaller, lighter and more manageable. To be honest I don't really want to
use the 8m anymore. The wind had picked up and was probably blowing 15
knots average now. Anyway out with the storm, beach starts, less falling
in, no uphauling, fantastic. I think for the first time ever, I managed to
beach start on port tack OMFG I knew I could do it, its easy on starboard
tack but I could never coordinate it on the other side but today I did it
about 6 times. Did some great normal tacks as well but only on starboard
tack. IT WAS GREAT not having to uphaul fuck yeah. The wind was gusty
though. When it blew it was some nice planing, the rest of the time was
'almost planing'. If I had more TOW then I probably would have planed a
lot more, but never mind. It was good to sail with other people, when I
got there there must have been about 30 dingies out and I though fuck I
can't go out with them there!!! But they came in and out I went. There
were about another five windsurfers out so it was great. Soem of them were
even at my level (i.e. crap) as wll which was even better. It's great
watching other people 'fuck it up'. I came off water at 7.30pm so had a
good 4 hours windsurfing today. Anyway, this oculd be my last time at
Queen Marys as I am moving towards Cambridge where I will be roughly 25
mins drive from Grafham Water. So that will be my local club now. If you
see some twat windsurfing in shades, then that's me. :)
