An average year for wind and weather continues !!!! and the English summer disappears without trace :( The forecast looked okay for a trip around Mersea Island with a force 3+ and a midday high and the rain gone by lunch !!! I checked the forecast early and decided to take a chance and arrived at Point Clear an hour later with an hour and a half before high but only light winds :( I rigged anyway and set off toward Mersea Island heading to the harbour as I didnt want to risk beating up the river to start with and get stuck inland in light airs !!! I had made it about a mile along the coast when the wind dropped to nothing and I knew I wasn't going to make it :( After a chocolate stop had a wobbly run back to Point Clear and the decided to explore the lagoon and creeks for their speedsailing potential, the sun even came out at this point !!! This could be my best bet for getting 30 kts on the raceboard even if the runs are on the short side :( I will have to get my mate Peter Cutts to let me know when it is right again and it will save me the 70 mile trip to the Ray !!! This was the best part of the day out with hundreds of sea birds and one seal :)
