Tuesday 20th Mar.2012 – Ski and open air swimming *****
Woke up to sunshine and blue skies :) so after breakfast packed a picnic
and were at the lifts for 9:15 as they opened! The newly pisted runs were
just perfect flat and fast and we set about using every lift in the area!!!
This is a top area, fairly quiet with a lot of pretty tree lined runs with
nothing overly hard apart from the black Olympic runs from the top of la
Croix de Chamrosse at 2250m! We did a little off-piste but mainly stuck to
the well groomed piste. We did lose each other a couple of things but found
each other before having to use our mobiles ! The run into Chamrosse 1650
to catch the bubble was steep but we made it to the top to take in the
fantastic views all round with snowy peaks everywhere !!! There was
several doing some extreme off-piste which involved some serious uphill
walking!!! Rather them than me!!!! We did the red lacs Robert and back to
the top and then I persuaded Mag to have ago at the steep and long black
the couoir de casserousse which was narrow and bumpy :( We made it half way
and stopped for a picnic in a wonderful spot surrounded by lichen covered
rocks by the number 13 piste marker post – lucky for some. We were
entertained by expert skiers coming in off-piste from both sides!!! We made
it to the bottom of the world’s longest drag lift, the De Casserousse and
at the top Mag said her feet hurt and she headed back while I did half of
the olypique homes before starting the trip back to the apartment –
knackered after being out over 5 hours and covering 25 n/miles. Mag had
only just got back so the kettle was on, a quick rest before heading to the
pool – this is the life :)
