Mood: waiting for wind

Wind Stength: 28-35 knots
Surf / Sea State: Big rough seas
Air Temperature: Ok
Sea Temperature: Ok

Distance Covered:

B2C W4CR challenge in pretty rough conditions .... Rain, poor visibility, storm force wind, sunny intervals made it look more attractive a proposition

Rigged the 2013 4.5m Shark and USurf84 trifin and had a quick test spin .... Yep, it was windy .... Well powered up.

Rich O was on 4.7m Shark and XWave 91. Marcus on a 105 ltr with 5.5m rig .... Both being a bit heavier than me ;) Dan was using 7m kite !!!

We all set off heading for Camber, however this numpty managed to come too close to shore (planning a tweak to set up) but spotting rocks hopped off to prevent kit damage only to end up slicing feet and legs on the offending rocks below surface while been pummelled by waves .... Good news, no kit was harmed during this incident, tho I fared less well. Still .... Back to the task n hand .....

I'd lost 10 minutes I guess during this and as such was a bit behind the others, so did my best to go deeper off the wind to regain some distance, but this wasn't the best of plans as wind swung a bit more cross shore and dropping over top over big swell / waves bearing away so much was dodgy as hell !!!!

Sailed a fair bit unhooked for control .... Cream crackered I took breather on beach by the retail park between Bexhill and Hastings, then back on it .... Wounds were tender, but coping ok .... Sailed down to Stamco beach, spotted kite there and though was Dan but wasn't ....

Bumped into Malcolm who was just about to pack up and he offered me a lift to Rockanore which I initially declined and then after a moment of clarity the offer made sense .... So I binned my efforts there.

Dan made it to the harbour wall at Rockanore only for his bar to break leaving him a sketchy landing !

Rich and Marcus made good time and carried on to complete the distance, with Rich first in taking just over 2.5 hours.

Also making the trip was Stuart who arm paddled on big surfboard all the way !

Huge respect for those who made it .... For me perhaps it was a bit much, though I take great encouragement from the fact I was able to give it a go given its less than 12m since I snapped my Achilles !!!
