What a month !!! what a day !!! My top speed and ave. for the month, best alpha for the year :) lost a board and thought I was going to die !!!!!! :( It started off so well, with only one child to look after today I left Mag holding the fort and got to The Dip early as rain was forecast this afternoon. Arrived 9:30 - not great as high water but with ssw winds gusting to 25 mph rigged the 6.6 and took out the Xantos - way underpowered struggled back and rigged 7.5, that was great :) I then headed over behind the shingle bar and had a great sail in Bawdsey Bay, what a top place that is with the sea sooooooooooooo much better here, not so choppy with a good swell. You could sail into the River Deben gybe in flat water and then head off toward East Lane flat out broad and then beat back and do it again :) This is where I got all my best speeds and then with the wind increasing and the 7.5 becoming a hand full I had a challenging beat back :) I made it okay by which time several sailors had arrived and for once we out numbered the kiters !!! With the other sailors out with 5m I had to rig a third sail and went for my 5.6 and 100 F2 Wizzard, I am not a lover of small sail sailing but was having fun including a couple of jumps :) in winds now 25+ !!!! It was on my second run out near the red and white bouy that my uj went, the mast hit my head and my board surfed off toward Bawdsey Beach never to be seen again :( I was left holding the rig in a huge sea with little chance of being spotted from the shore in the poor visability and after an hour waving to the shore and hoping the lifeboat was on the way and drifting up the coast I decided to start swimming seriously - I had been in the water 1 to 2 hours and lucky for me the wind had dropped and the sea calmed down a little and I didn't think I was going to die anymore :) I got near the shingle bar when an inflatable boat from the Bawsdey sailing school appeared - a big thank you must go to Chris Stevens for driving to Felixstowe Ferry and getting the boat to look for me :) The boat dropped me and my rig off at The Dip where Chris and Paul and Roger Vickers helped me pack up, which I did before the rain. So all in all I had a lucky escape and we must try to keep an eye open when sailing as things can go wrong soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo quickly !!!!
