Couldn't do any work today as roads were wet today so managed to get back to Felixstowe by 3:30 and after looking at the Manor but no one there so headed to The Dip to find Steve C out on 6m and Mark Smalling rigging 6.6. I had arrived at a fairly good time as the tide was dropping making launching easier, Steve and Peter Ling having to launch from kite beach. I took a chance on 6.4 and my 100lt board but struggled and am not a lover of sailing underpowered !!! I need a 6.5 rotational for fun sailing at Felixstowe. The sea was still fairly big so speed was not an option at this point and then out by the red and white bouy my board parted from the sail - it just pulled out of the extension - nothing broken ??? I managed to swim after my board and caught it and on looking back my rig had disappeared !!! I thought I had lost it :( but lucky for me the rig popped up and then I spent several uncomfortable minutes trying to get it back !!! I got it in eventually and sailed back getting 26 kts without really trying ! A big black clould appeared and the wind seemed to drop so I rigged 7m and went out with Peter Cutts who had just rigged 6.5. I beat up into the River Deben mouth to see if there was any flat water, there was a sort section but the tide was strong and the wind gusty but we had a bit of fun trying some speed runs making over 31 kts - not bad as the wind was a bit on the light side :) There was some nice conditions in front of kite beach but all the windsurfers had left by now :( I had one last long run out to sea and back broad to The Dip sadly not sailing far enough to get a mile :( but it was getting dark. So not too bad a session.
