Kite surfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: E Wind Stength: 16-10 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat Air Temperature: 16ºC Sea Temperature: 10ºC Weather: Hazy Sunshine Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got to the beach at 4.30pm to find a guy from Cardiff just packing up a 12
m kite having been out in 20 knot winds for a couple fo hours. The wind had
dropped a little so I set up my 11m (15 flat) Wipika and got out there on
the water. At first I had to have it depowered quite a bit and over the
next hour or so, gradually powered it up as the wind dropped.
I was well powered up the whole time anbd having a really good session in
the flat estuary waters. I had a few goes at riding toeside and had some
good jumps, with the usual line of spectators with cameras on the beach...
Kitesurfing is still quite a novelty to many people!
The wind then dropped just as Shem turned up to the beach. I came in and
landed my kite while Shem set up his new 16m Caution Spitfire. Chris turned
up too. We flew Shems kite on the beach for a bit, then it seemed to be
picking up again, so I landed Shems kite and quickly got back on the water
while Shem and Chris got their wetsuits on. I had another 10 minutes nicely
powered up, but just as Shem got to the waters edge, the wind dropped again
so I came in and packed up.
Shem had a few runs but was loosing ground downwind in the light winds.
Chris managed to get up and going on his surfboard, for a bit too.
A really good session while it lasted, and once again nice and warm.
