Windsurfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: NNW Wind Stength: 20-25 knots Surf / Sea State: Choppy Air Temperature: 10°C Sea Temperature: 11°C Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered:
A lovely surprise after work session. I was goingto go for a bike ride but
as I drove through Borth it was clear that it was windy with a lovely blue
sky and a blue sea covered in white-caps. I knocked the idea of a bike ride
on the head and went windsurfing instead.
I was expecting the wind to drop though as evening approaches (it usually
does when an unexpected NW wind arrives int he afternoon) so I took my big
board and big sails across to the beach. It was still windy on the beach
though so I rigged the smaller 5.7m sail and headed out. As I walked down
the beach to the water I was wishing I had my smaller board and maybe even
my 5m sail so I added some more outhaul and headed out.
I was straight onto the plane and well powered up, skimming across the
choppy waters. The waves were only small windblown affairs that were
closely space so it was often a case of jumping off one and clearing the
wave behind it before landing. A few of these were obviously mis-timed
which resulted in some heavy landings onto the face of the next wave.
Good gybes, plenty of sunshine, some duck gybes attempts and loads of
non-stop blasting over the blue waters. Perfect!
