Sunday 14th April – Walk *** Hemley Circuit – mainly cloudy and cool.

With light winds today and still cold, we did stuff at home this morning. We headed over to Hemley this afternoon, parking by the church to eat our yummy salad. We wrapped up and set off along the hedge lined path full of pussy willow and white blossom which is now past its best in places. Although there was lots of bird song, sightings were few and far between. It was nice and sheltered here but we were hit by the cool east wind when we made it to the sea wall at Kirton Creek. With the tide out there was a lot of exposed mud but again very few birds, just the odd Oyster catcher, gulls and a solitary egret. The small wooden footbridge has been replaced making our return along the Deben path a little earlier than last time we were here! A pleasant circuit showing us the best of Suffolk before returning home for a warming cuppa and a fruit scone. Might be enough wind for my 6th windsurfing session of the month tomorrow and a fraction warmer too before we head to Surrey to visit the family including lovely Arlo:)
