Windsurfing: Bradfield Wind Direction: SE Wind Stength: 8kts Surf / Sea State: flat Air Temperature: warm Sea Temperature: warm Weather: Sunny / cloud Max Speed: 5.2 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 5 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
The light wind forecast should have stopped me making the trip to Bradfield
but, thought maybe a sea breeze funnelling down the river might do the
trick. Also prob cant sail Sunday, which has a windy forecast.
Jason and Nick turned up, but water was a long way out so plenty o time
for a chat. After 30 mins fin boy Jay went whilst foilers Nick and me
waited. It was still 8kts, with little 10 gusts. Was hoping to try out my
new acquisition a Slingshot V3 FWind foil on a dedicated Exocet RF-91
board. Rigged a 9.2 Phantom, whilst Nick using a 4K valued Patrik air
formula board, linked to a 9.4 Severne race sail.
Clouds were coming over so we were hoping for good gusts but nothing.
Neither of us got anywhere near a flight. I covered 5nm but Nick didn't
bother, just went out and straight back saying we need at least 3 kts more.
Shame as the day was warm.
Nick spent time fine tuning his kit and at least I think I assembled the
Slingshot correctly. Didn't fly at all and all foils feel the same when
stuck in the water.
All was not lost, as I left Nick de-rigging and faffing in the dark whilst
I shot off for a decent steam / sauna session, just in time before the spa
closed.
