Friday 25th October – Windsurf * - River Orwell - Levington – cloudy.

Starboard Formula and Slingshot Hover Glide F/Wind with Tushingham Lightning 8.5.

Foil – 5.90 knot max., 4.86 knot ave., 0.00 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile, 7.50 km., 0.00 knot alpha.

I was always taking a chance today but was keen to get out on the foil so with a SW 15 knots forecast I headed over to Levington Marina arriving at nine to make the most of high water approximately an hour later. I had had plenty of lovely flat water but precious little wind but if I didn’t setup right away, I would miss the tide so quickly put the foil together and rigged 8.5. While this was going on the marina dredger headed out into the river and moored up just along from where we launch, I hope we can sail with no problems with it there as I don’t want to get in the way! I wobbled out onto the river in hope the breeze filled in but sadly it didn’t arrive, in fact it went even lighter:( So no flying today, only cold hands, I am defiantly not looking forward to winter with my poor old joints! Even the tide turning didn’t help so I decided to call it a day. The highlight of the day was watching the large RLNI Harwich lifeboat leave the marina. So, home for some decorating while the wind did pick up and a few went out at The Dip but a bit chilly for me on the open sea. Supposed to be really windy tomorrow and 15 degrees so hope to get out, fingers crossed it doesn’t blow 40 knots!
