8th June 2020 Mt. Biking: Felixstowe to Levington Marina. Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Mainly cloudy Max Speed: 18.77 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 12.35 mile (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Monday 8th - bike *** - Felixstowe to Levington Marina – Mainly cloudy. After two hectic days windsurfing, one at the very crowded Point Clear and the other on the lovely Stour at Bradfield where I sadly wrecked my 8.5 sail and old foil board it was nice to get back out on the bikes despite the weather not being great, mainly cloudy with only a hint of sun but no rain! So, after another great video chat with Grandson Arlo and then breakfast interspersed with taking pics of the wildlife in our back garden including our nesting Robin, Starlings feeding their young and Sparrows getting bugs off Mags plants, we even had the Gold Finch come in for a drink but sadly the pesky young rat is back after being missing for over a week! So, with a sandwich packed we decided to head to our bench in the BBQ area at Levington Marina because the route would be fairly sheltered from a cool breeze from the North! It is always nice to bike through the small woods down to the River Orwell by Loompit lake despite the gloomy day and it was very quiet which is always nice:) Not many young birds on the lake just a swan with one cygnet feeding by the No Fishing sign! and loads of wagtails flitting about on the path! Sadly, there was a couple already at our seat so we continued through the marina to the bench near where I park to windsurf which sadly is still not open to us as the big crane blocking our way in proves! It was a pleasant spot to eat out yummy chicken sandwich wit noisy oyster catchers, a diving grebe and turns looking for small fish, the sun even made an appearance warming things nicely:) Then it was time to leave bumping into Foiler Jamie who works at the marina for a short chat. Out of the marina entrance, across the fields by the railway line seeing three trains back to Walton. We took a new way by the Academy school and home, being out for 2 hours 40 minutes covering just over 12 miles. Perhaps we can take lunch out again tomorrow to see ‘Emily’ before having an afternoon get together in our friend Mary’s front garden:) No more windsurfing until at least Thursday and hope it is strong enough for my fin gear as more foil gear is out of action and am actively looking for a foil board and a 8.6m sail, that’s another battering for the poor old pension:( Photo Gallery Here |
