What a session that was. Started off with the 5.7m and 104ltr board but there wasn't enough wind. So I sat on the beach for half an hour watching the kiters (Mike, Lawrence and another guy). Then gave it another go and if anything there was a little too much wind. Hung on for a bit in overpowered conditions but when it looked as though the wind was there to stay I headed in and rigged my 85ltr wave board and 5m sail.

Back on the water and there was almost too much for this as well. Mike and the other guy paced up but Michele came out to join me and Lawrence on the water. Hung on once again for some crazy runs through the waves with some massive jumps. The wind did ease back off a little to make things much more comfortable so that I was perfectly powered. Knees and back were a little sore by now though as there's no such thing as a soft landing from such big jumps.

Decided to work on fully committed gybes onto a wave face and nailed every single one of them. I'd head flat out towards the waves, spot a steep section, carve as hard as I could right under the lip, sending up massive rooster tails of spray. I'd then have to pretty much stomp on the front of the boartd and throw myself down the face of the wave whilst flippping the sail only to sail away at full speed on the face of the wave in the opposite direction. I few times I thought I was going to get devoured by the breaking wave but somehow everything fell into place and I'd simply head off back towards the beach.

Glad I waited that half an hour on the beach as it turned out to be a 5* session!
