Mt. Biking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy Max Speed: 16.27 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 11 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Monday 2nd May – bike **** – Around Felixstowe with lunch at Falkenham
Church – cloudy.
After avoiding the prom at Felixstowe due to the crowds watching the
vintage cars, we thought it best avoided as we don’t like old cars or
crowds so had some old friends around in the morning and watched a film in
the afternoon, weather not brilliant jut grey really. Being Bank Holiday,
the grey continued and again we wanted to avoid the busy prom so spent the
morning at home, me doing me exercises while Mag pottered in the garden,
she is a little feed up as several of her plants are being attacked by
small flies:( I then suggested we drive over to Hemley Church for a picnic
but she thought it might be crowded so we headed out on the bikes to one of
our old favourites, Falkenham Church. Leaving home around 1.30 and once we
had made it to The Grove park, we saw next to no people which was just
lovely as we headed down Marsh Lane, the rape field is still in full bloom,
smells strong too! With several small birds flitting about. Reaching Kings
Fleet, we turn away from the River Deben reaching our seat at Falkenham
church to enjoy our picnic in complete peace and quiet with some
interesting clouds too. The church yard is full of cow paisley with a few
bluebells and we spot a small deer in the field in front of us, not sure if
it’s a muntjac or Chinese water deer? Well rested we take the shorter
route back over bridle ways and foot paths across fields with various crops
now coming along well! We pass four new blue tractors sorting out
irrigation and drilling salad crops, stopping to have a word with one of
the farmers asking what they are planting, very nice young man too:) Back
to Candlet Lane leading to Walton and home, a very pleasant afternoon, out
2hrs 45mins covering 11 miles:)
