Wednesday 18th May – bike ***** – Around Felixstowe including lunch
with ‘Emily’ at Falkenham Church – sunny and warm:).
The good weather continues with another sunny, warm day with light breezes
making it ideal for a bike ride. So the usual morning at home doing my
exercises in the back garden which is looking absolutely lovely as Mags
fingers are getting greener and greener:) Then Mag some delicious tuna
pasta and we set off on our bikes around 12.20, as we had to deliver a
birthday card at our sons house in Walton, just out of Felixstowe to
decided to head to our favourite picnic spot Falkenham Church but do it the
other way round which is good as not so many uphill’s:) The tree lined
avenue track was very peaceful and full of cow paisley as was the whole
bike ride, Suffolk is looking particularly beautiful at the moment. Turning
towards Trimley we cross the A 14 and cross over several fields where the
crops are coming on well, the salad leaves we saw being planted a short
time ago are now coming along well, as is the wheat. Our seat was free, in
fact we saw very few people on most of the ride, just perfect. We sat in
the sun enjoying lunch with stunning views down to the Deben with a buzzard
overhead! We continue down towards Kings Fleet where we stop and chat to
windsurfing friends Chris and Marion Stephens in their full bee keeping
gear about to look at three hives that they recently put there! We sit on
one of the fishing platforms for a cuppa watching the swans and dragon
flies before carrying onto the River Deben path leading to Felixstowe
Ferry. A quick trip around the boat yard with the tide high but whizzing
out. Then past the golf course taking the prom back which again was fairly
quiet. A top cycle being out for 3 hours 30 minutes covering a little over
14 miles.
Tonight is supposed to be interesting with thunder and heavy rain, Mag will
be pleased if our butts are filled again!
