28th February 2024 Hiking - Walking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Mainly cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3 miles + (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Wednesday 28th February - walks *** – Around Felixstowe – sunny periods. Walk 1. Felixstowe Ferry Had such a lovely time at Felixstowe Ferry yesterday morning I decided to head down there again this morning arriving at 8.30, more cloud today with only the briefiest glimpse of sun and even lighter winds. More pics of my favourite new fence on the seawall by the Martello tower and noticed one of the small bungalows has been badly damaged by fire :( I then moved to the boatyard and the boats looked great on their moorings with the River Deben like a mill pool, there were lots of reflections:) Home for breakfast and exercises, we even got to see some sunshine and Mag got to brush our cats for the first time this year, they loved it! Was lucky ennough to get one of this mornings pics on ITV,s About Anglia this evening:) Walk 2. Trimley circuit including lunch at Trimley Churches. With no sign of the forecast rain I packed another picnic and we drove to the Trimley Churches to eat it, not our favourite spot but we had the chose of a few walks :) We have never been down Church Lane so we decided to head that way coming out by the little wood by the A 14 Trimley slip road, turning left we take the windy way through the trees. Across the road and through the houses at Trimley St. Martin to the footbridge over the A 14 doing a sharp right to another path through another little wood right next to the busy A 14 with several trees in blossum and a bike track with jumps. Over the Kirton road to take the footpath past track used by motor bikes to the tunnel under the A 14, I was in trouble now as there was a huge deep puddle which Mag could get through in her wellies, sadly I was not wearing mine so I had to cross the A 14 which I managed safely. Back through a fairly new housing estate and back to the van which was parked on the main road. We took the scenic route back home down Gulpher Road and back along the seafront and home for a welcome cuppa and cake:) Photo Album here |
