Another top day here in Suffolk, the weather might not have been brilliant, the wind was patchy but Mag came with me for the day for a rest and walked nearly three miles and we got to see the lovely old barge the Thallatta which was moored in Levington Marina and we enjoyed a nice picnic in the van too:) The day started sunny with a nice breeze from the wnw meaning I could go to Levington saving me a long drive to the Stour and it gave us a chance to she the Thallata which was moored right next to where we park at the marina! We arrived at the marina before ten and got to see the Thallatta covered in flags I the sunshine. The tide was already high enough to launch with no problems so set up my foil board, with the wind a fraction off it was hard to judge the strength so took a chance with my 6.5 again which was OK even if the wind was up and down:( We learned the Thallatta was leaving around midday Mag decided to wait and see it go as I launched at 11 but it was delayed for an hour so she headed out for a three mile walk to Levington Creek and beyond:) I was up and flying straight away and made my way down river but with the wind I this direction you ran out of wind so after a few runs started a beat back up towards Pin Mill and spent over two hours playing hunt the gust! It was lovely being out on the Orwell despite being cloudy with a great many sailing boats. I was eventually joined by the Thallatta as it had squeezed out of the marina and was heading for Ipswich I think. Getting knackered I decided to head back and got my best runs as I got a few good gusts as the tide had now turned! Mag was back at the van resting and had enjoyed her walk and then watching the barge leave the marina, we have never seen a barge in the marina before! I then had a quick shower and we enjoyed our picnic in our little campervan:) Tomorrow is looking breezy with a cool wind from the north with lots of rain so will probably give it a miss!
