Thursday 27th June – Windsurf *** The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny periods.

Foil – 17.18 knot max , 15.02 knot ave, 9.69 knot hour, 14.95 knot mile, 27.80 km., 11.25 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After a spell of hot weather with very little wind today looked promising but with the wind picking up around lunch time and then turning offshore picking a venue was the first problem? With it definitely being westerly tomorrow meaning Levington I hoped to get out on the sea today so after doing my exercises in the back garden, cloudy too until about 11.30 which was about the time the breeze started to pick up, probably SW at this point so I hitched the trailer and headed down to Squiz Lane, my plan was if I could park I would stay if not I would head over to Levington, but I managed to squeeze my van in at the end and put my trailer by the bins. The conditions looked good with the sun now out and hot again so I set up my foil board and took a chance with my 6.5 which proved right for most of the session! I launched just after one as was flying straight away and did a long run out, a couple of miles to check the conditions returning to the launch beach, I then decided to have a run up the coast about 3.50 miles ending up in line with The Dip. The beat back was OK although I did have to wait for a gust to pump up on the foil, I was heading straight towards the Manor Martello when the wind switched to the west, offshore and turning very patchy. It took awhile to return back but I made it in OK, time to pack up and head for home, not a bad session with some decent long runs in my shortie for the first time this year!
