Monday 5th August – Windsurf * The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny and hot.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

This weeks forecast is looking pretty good and with today wall to wall sunshine and hot and as we are seeing Maeva this afternoon I was keen to get on the water this morning. I arrived at Squiz Lane at The Manor just after nine and parked easily, the wind was still a tad off but there looked enough for my 6.5 so everthing was ready for the off as Ian arrived to wing with his 5m. I set off into the lovely sunshine on what should have been a great day when my foiling gremlins struck again as my Starboard aluminum mast failed and my wings sheared off and sunk to the bottom of the sea 500m offshore, the resulting fall also ripped the hook from my harness, I was able to sail back OK well pissed off, as I have had at least 4 major equipment failures now using both Slingshot and Starboard foils so today will once again put a big dent in my small pension!!! Once home Mag was phylosophital and said just order another one, she is a complete star:) I rang Dave at Fluid lines in Colchester who said he would see if Starboard would do anything but I am not holding my breath even though it is next to impossible to sell windsurfing foil gear now as everyone is winging! Lovely Ian has now leant me his Severne foil which he rarely uses these days, a brave man with my record! I had th flle my board to get the mast bolts to fit but I am ready togo again! I am now looking for another foil set, a 1100 ish front wing, a 500 or 330 rear wind, a 95 evolution fuselage and a 95 aluminum mast as I certainly cant run to carbon!

Walk *** - Around Felixstowe

Still I managed to do my exercises in a very hot back garden before walking round to look after Maeva for an hour or so before heading for home. I was pleased to get one of this mornings pics choosen as an BBC Editors pick but it did not make it on the telly :(
