Saturday 21st September - walk **** – Levington – cloudy start
then sunny and warm.
After a pretty full-on week it was nice to have a relaxing Saturday morning
lay-in especially as the day started cloudy. Mag did a big cook-off so I
pealed the vegetables while having my breakfast and mashed the potatoes as
we will be having shepherds pie for several days now:) I then did my
exercises in the garden, after a few spot of rain the sun made an
appearance and it turned into a glorious day as Mag potted up bulbs and
seeds. I then packed a picnic late and we headed over to Levington Marina,
being the weekend loads of humpties were out and about:( We had cyclists on
the single track road at Trimley holding up traffic when there is a safe
cycle lane running down the side of the A 14, then a car coming the other
way failed to pull over on our right of way and the car in front of me
stopped then reversed into me, lucky not much damage done! Then on the way
back we pulled into a passing spot to let a car pass and some prat on a
motor scooter overtook us causing the other car to stop sharply, he
certainly had a death wish, probably best to stay at home at weekends, much
safer!!! We were pleased to arrive safely at Levington Marina in lovely
weather with the tide really high with some super clouds, just fantastic.
We parked at my windsurfing spot by the marina entrance to enjoy our picnic
lunch and watch the boat action, as loads of yachts were out on the Orwell,
two tugs were heading back to Ipswich after helping a small tanker upriver.
The East Coast sailing school dinghies were out sailing and we Watch them
skillfully sail back to their berths:) Then at 3.30 we set off for a walk,
instead of walking to Loompit we went the other way following the Orwell
towards Levington creek all looking great with the tide very high and
having just turned! There were a few terns diving in the river, several
egrets plus a few red shanks in the little lake now very short of water. We
continued around the creek to the wooden walkway back through the reeds,
sadly no deer were spotted today:( It was nice to make the most of the
lovely weather as its supposes to get cooler next week with rain!
