Thursday 17th October - walk **** – Circuit of Landguard Nature Reserve including a picnic by the River Orwell – Some sunny periods.

A wet dull start to the day but things improved and staying mild, even managed my exercises in the garden before packing a picnic and driving to The Manor for a walk around the lovely Landguard Nature Reserve. We arrived at one and set off just as a large but rusty container ship was heading in so we made a detour to the dock view point to watch the three tugs manoeuvre the ship to its berth as the yellow Harwich foot ferry arrived and we saw loads of friendly starlings:) We then continued to our spot on the old jetty to enjoy our lunch with light winds and glimpses of sunshine. We then walked along the beach back and saw a large seal on the foreshore, hopefully only resting but it did have its head down and had what looked like hiccups, fingers crossed its OK, several people saw it too so I suspect someone has phoned the seal rescue people. Then home via Lidl for a well deserved cuppa and cake before we were treated to a top Felixstowe sunset and an amazing Hunters moon, the biggest of the year I think! My Dad is off to Addenbrooks for a procedure and hopefully if things go well he will be back at Ipswich Hospital quickly!
