Friday 22nd November - walks ***** – Around Felixstowe – Sunny periods, mild and windy.

After yesterdays grey day the sun made an appearance today with Storm Bert continuing to make its presence felt not the wind was definitely as strong as forecast! Robert our son spent an hour online trying to get a ticket for this afternoon game between Ipswich Town and Manchester United and was lucky enough to get one:) We then had enough time to drive down to The Dip to coinside with low water so we could have a breezy walk around the vast shingle bank. Paul Smith was out windsurfing in the waves, shame the wind was light and gusty closer to the shore but much better further out, I was not tempted in the slightest, not my conditions even with the temperature a balmy 14 degrees, I am hoping to get out at Levington tomorrow as Bert moves away! We also bumped into fellow windsurfer Peter Edmunds and had a nice chat before moving off along the prom with a tail wind and felling very mild! Out onto kite beach and round to the shingle spit, much longer than the last time we walked here and it is strange looking back at the beach huts near the cliff top car park! We then follow the waters edge nearly making it to the red channel bouy and you could look right back down the Deben to the Martello tower as the clouds started to cover the sun! It is hard going walking on the shingle into a head wind, we were pleased to reach the prom! Then a quick bite to eat as our other son Dan arrives with Jay and the lovely Maeva and she gets to open an early birthday from Arlo before Dan takes Rob to the station to head to Ipswich. After lunch Maeva falls on asleep on Granny and we watch the game on Sky thanks to a friend:) Town were very unlucky not to win, playing really well especially in the first half! Dan picks Rob up from the station and we enjoy a lovely family meal, yummy toad in the hole – top day:)
