Wednesday 25th December - bike **** – Around Felixstowe – cloudy.

After a nice lay-in on Christmas morning including mince pies with cream in bed Mag drove me down to the seafront at 9.30 to watch the Felixstowe Dip in the sea in aid of St. Elizabeths hospice in Ipswich which included 650 dippers and a large crowd watching! I wandered about snapping pics of people in some cool costumes many having their pic taken with a Mr Bean look alike:) Nearing the start time and with the tide pretty low I found a spot on the rocks to get the people splashing into the cold water, with a light offshore breeze the sea was very flat making it ideal, it was fairly mild but very grey and gloomy, some sunshine would have been nice but it is always like this on Christmas day! I got some nice shoots with the camera on a fast speed as rthe crowd ran in, they soon came out! I got a few pics as rthey left including a happy group doing the conga! I then walked back home and the prom was heaving! I sorted a few pics out for facebook and the local weather, I was amazed to have over 1600 likes on one site!
I then packed a picnic lunch, yummy chicken sandwiches, leftovers from last nights Christmas meal before heading out on our bikes, my first time since 18th October! We headed past the park at The grove and out onto Marsh Lane where we didn’t see another human, just lovely despite the damp gloom! Reaching Kings Fleet we had a quick look at the deserted River Deben turning back again the fleet we had already seen a deer and then we spooked a marsh harrier and there were loads of swans on the water too:) Then up to our favourite spot Falkenham Church with not a soul about and enjoyed our sandwiches with our second mince pie of the day! We got a little chilly so set off for home taking the short route home along Trimley High street and home. After crakers and cheese we played scrabble before we watched Die Hard, it was really terrible too:) What a great Christmas Day Mag and I had, we are seeing the family later in the week!
