Sunday 2nd February - walk ***** – Martlesham circuit – sunny
with light winds.
Saturday 1st Feb.
After a lovely evening get together with family and friends including three
we child minded from babaies who are now in their 20,s wow we are getting
old. We had a nice meal and played games the company left around 10.30, I
put the laptop on to send people a group pic I took and saw there was a
chance of seeing the Northern Lights again so with the sky clear and cold,
a frost was forming on the van I decided to drive down to Felixstowe Ferry
to check it out. I got half way there and one of the side bars on our van
fell off so I had to stop and sort that out! I was the only one at The
Ferry boatyard and the starry sky looked wonderful but after the first
shoot I took I knew there was no red in the sky tonight:( I took a few more
pics in the cold before returning home!
Sunday 2nd.
We had arranged to meet up with my sister Sharon to help sort out our Dads
bungalow and had a very sad but productive time, it is sad to have to throw
out items collected during a long life:( At 11.30 it was time to say
goodbye and with a picnic packed we decided to take the scenic route to the
lovely Martlesham Church. There was a service going on at the church and
the car park was full but we managed to squeeze in to have our lunch in the
van before donning our wellies for the start of the walk! Again it was a
perfect winter weather, sunny with light winds, we decided to walk the
other way round today so headed to the small boatyard first and the paths
were very muddy, definatly a welly day! It was about half tide at
Martlesham Creek and the water was very still making for some nice pics
especially as there was still patches of frost! We then continued out onto
the creek path and being the weekend, it fantastic to see a few avocets
feeding with waders and ducks too, just lovely! Opposite Kyson Point we
turned inland to walk around the new nature reserve that is now called
Martlesham Wilds. It was tiring walking in the mud making both our backs
ache and once again my heel was playing up and we were pleased to be
nearing the end of our walk. We spotted a robin and some cool sheep before
heading to the church which is full of snowdrops with just a few crocus! It
was then home for a welcome cuppa, to[ weekend:)
