Sunday 6th April – Windsurf ***** River Orwell at Levington – sunny.

Foil – 20.49 knot max, 19.46 knot ave., 14.45 knot hour, 17.08 knot mile, 40.08 km., 15.66 knot alpha (year PB).

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt 5.5.

After yesterdays 5 star session, first time out on the sea this year I was not sure what to do today with the wind moving to the east and a tad cooler but still wall to wall sunshine. I checked the webcam for The Dip and there was a bit of a shore dump and with mates going to Alton Water I decided to head over to Levington for a easier, smoother session:) I arrived at the marina at 10 just as the Sunday yacht racing was starting and the boats were soon leaning right over meaning it was fairly breezy along the straight towards Felixstowe docks which made up my mind for sail choose, my favourite 5.5. With the tide dropping I had to launch by the marina entrance and slowly sailed towards the docks and once I passed the tree line in Levington bay I was up and flying and didn’t look back having a really great session with the 5.5 being perfect, maybe a little under at times, I could have maybe been a fraction faster on the 6.5 but it was great to be on the smaller sail enjoying a mellow sail with some top gybing and some cracking miles plus runs and was really surprised with today's speed stats as it didn’t feel that fast, just easy sailing:) It was fantastic to be in the thick of the racing yachts as they returned from Harwich way and was out the best part of two hours sailing nearly 50 miles over the weekend, a rare thing for me consecutive 5 star sessions both in lovely sunshine! With the wind going a little patchy I decided to call it a day, only trouble when landing around low water you have to get through a metre or two of deep mud and had the wash some kit off at the end but a small price to pay for a top session! Shower, pack-up before heading over to the Marina office to pay for another year and home to hear about Mags day which we did sitting on our new seat in the garden with the cats charging about, what a top weekend:)
