Tuesday 8th April - bike *** – Two Rivers, Orwell to the Deben – sunny but chilly.

With the brakes on my mountain bike non-existant Mag booked me into Wilco’s down near the leisure centre in Felixstowe for 8.30 this morning. I cycled down to speak to the very nice man who took a few seconds to say my much loved and well abused Cannondale mountain, first used in 2014, the best part of 11 years old was officially dead with just too much wrong to make it worth repairing, so time to look for a new electric hard tail mountain bike, they are just so expensive new so might see whats available secondhand? As I was out early I thought I would have probably one last ride so headed onto the pier as a large container ship was slowly making its way into port, I stopped in several places to get some last shots of my bike, the first being the beach huts at The Manor, followed by Landguard Nature Reserve with the Orwell as backdrop, followed by the lobster pots at Felixstowe Ferry and lastly the Ferry Martello tower! As you can now guess I did the two rivers ride, slow going as I had left my battery at home and had to peddle the old fashoned way with no help from the moter! Aftet the view point I headed to Langer Park, along High Road East leading to Felixstowe Ferry, a quick trip round the boatyard, talking to a fellow windsurf about to head out fishing before taking the coast path back to The Dip. Around the The Fludyers and along the prom to Consitution Hill which I nearly made it to the top peddling but I had cycled 12 miles with no breakfast! Then home for breakfast and check out the wind for foiling!

Tuesday 8th April – Windsurf * The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny but chilly.

Foil – 6.59 knot max, 4.60 knot ave., 0.00 knot hour, 0.00 knot mile, 7.89 km., 3.94 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After this mornings two rivers bike ride when there looked just enough breeze for a windsurf foil I headed down to The Dip at 1.30 and there was enough to tempt me out with my 6.5. Sadly this was a big mistake as I didn’t get close to flying, I wobbled out half a dozen times hoping the wind would pick up, sadly it didn’t:( I might have got going with a 7.5 or even the 8.5 but I am not keen on big sails, will have to give them a try if I want to get going in marginal conditions. Despite the wall to wall sunshine the easterly wind made it feel chilly, only 10 degrees on the seafront, perhaps more wind tomorrow?
